Ski touring at sunset

Ski touring at sunset: my not-to-be-missed experience!

Located in the heart of the Tarentaise Valley, Courchevel is one of the world's most prestigious resorts. In 2012, it was also the first to create a permanent, signposted and safe ski touring itinerary.

Over the years, other routes have been developed to enable mountain enthusiasts to appreciate the unspoilt beauty of the resort.

For an even more sensational experience, why not treat yourself to a guided walk at sunset? Read my testimonial!

An exceptional area to discover in a different way

In recent years, ski touring has become increasingly popular, and is gradually competing with the most popular discipline on the slopes, downhill skiing. It's a great way to strengthen your cardio system, while enjoying the magnificent snow-covered landscapes and unique gliding sensations of the downhill slopes.

A number of itineraries are now available for ski touring: the Plume KV, the Freeride Lab, the Millet Ski Touring and the Géné'piste. These offer a variety of vertical drops and lengths to suit all levels and expectations.

While these routes can be completed independently, a guide will prove invaluable in ensuring that you get the most out of your outing. If you're a ski touring enthusiast looking for a unique experience, esf Courchevel 1850 awaits you to enjoy a magical sunset.

My ski touring excursion in Courchevel

In the late afternoon, at around 5pm, the noise of the lifts stops, giving way to the soothing silence of the valley.

We meet up at the snow front with the instructor and the group with whom I'm about to embark on this fantastic adventure. Like a good professional, he shows us how to get properly equipped and how to attach the sealskins to the skis. A reminder of safety rules is also in order before starting the ascent, which requires good physical condition.

After a little effort, the view from the summit is unique: the sky is decked out in sumptuous colors, and we enjoy a 360° view of the mountains, with a glimpse of the legendary Mont Blanc.

Then, as night falls, it's time to take off the sealskins and turn on the headlamp, to make our way down the slope, feeling as if we're alone in the world. To round off this enchanting moment in style, I recommend a delicious Savoyard meal at one of the resort's excellent restaurants!
