Are you planning to spend a few days in the mountains at the end of the season? Do you know which winter sports activity is right for you? Skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing... esf offers a range of activities to suit your needs in Courchevel 1850.

But before you book your lessons, we advise you to weigh up the pros and cons of each sport. Speed? Technicality? Difficulty? All these elements vary greatly from one activity to another. Find out which one is right for you in this article!

Skiing: the iconic winter sport in Courchevel 1850

We'd like to start by introducing skiing, since it's obviously the most popular winter sport at Courchevel 1850, and in all other French ski resorts. It's worth noting that many skiers generally start at around the age of 5 or 6 on average, and sometimes even earlier.

Considered the most technical of the three sliding sports, it often impresses adults who didn't have the chance to discover it at a young age. However, it's perfectly possible to start learning at a later age - 15, 25 or even 45. There are no rules!

Skiing is ideal for holidaymakers in search of speed and thrills. It also allows you to try out other similar sports, such as cross-country skiing, freeride or freestyle, provided you already have experience of the latter two.

Snowboarding: satisfying your curiosity in the mountains

Snowboarding, on the other hand, is usually learnt later, around the age of 8, since most children start with skiing first. Teenagers and adults are also very curious about this sport, which is reputed to offer a greater sense of freedom.

Although snowboarding is less technical, the beginnings are generally more difficult than skiing, as both feet are attached to the same snowboard, which is far less natural. However, once you've mastered the basics, it's much easier to make rapid progress in this sport.

Willingness, patience, curiosity... these are just some of the qualities we recommend you have before you start learning to snowboard.

Snowshoeing: for nature lovers!

If you'd rather take the time to discover Courchevel 1850's nature trails during your stay, then snowshoe outings could be a great option to consider.

Also offered by the esf, this activity will enable you to explore some of the valley's prettiest nooks and crannies with your loved ones. Forests, mountain ridges... This adventure will bring you face to face with resplendent plant and animal species.

When it comes to sport, snowshoeing strengthens your cardiovascular system and muscles just as much as running, for example. So the benefits to the body are far from negligible!
