‘A great deal of enjoyment, a bit of technique, and fun’!

About

After 20 years of competition and a reward as World Downhill Ski Champion, Marion Rolland chose to become a ski instructor in order to share her passion for ski to the greatest number.

The first time she put on skis, Marion Rolland was one year and a half. Originally from the 2 Alpes, she was immediately taught how to ski. Her whole family was involved in this sport. That was therefore natural for her to follow in the same path. However, she prefered to specialise in competitive skiing. She was rewarded by success.

After 20 years of competition, Marion decided to stop her career in 2015. Her career path was greatly rewarded; member of the ESF, she became World Downhill Ski Champion in 2013 and several times France Downhill Champion as well as Champion of Super-G.

In 2016, Marion decided to convert herself and to become a ski instructor at ESF Courchevel 1850. She did not choose this resort by accident; she had to move to Albertville in order to train with the French national team. She then discovered the 3 Vallées. She liked Courchevel for its dynamism and because it is a renowned skiing area.

By a matter of fact, her favourite ski run is the ‘Swiss’, a black run that she particularly likes for it is freshly groomed every morning. A perfect day for her would start by skiing at the ‘Coqs’ because it is always sunny, then by passing at the ‘Creux’ -when not crowded- and finally going to ‘Jean Pachod’, situated under the chairlift of Chanrossa.

Marion Rolland likes this sport for its speed, for the sensations that it conveys and for the remarkable view she has on the mountains. When not hitting the slopes, Marion likes playing golf, riding her mountain bike and paddling.

Passionate about travelling, Marion Rolland has skied all around the world: in North America (USA and Canada), South America (Chile, Argentina), Europe (France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Slovakia, Slovenia), Scandinavia (Norway, Sweden), Russia… The destinations are not missing. Yet, she has not said her last word: now, she would like to discover Japan and China.

If you ask her what her favourite slopes are, she would answer unhesitatingly: the slope of the ‘Diable’ at the 2 Alpes, ‘Tofana’ at Cortina Ampezzo, (Italy), ‘planai’ of Schladming, Austria (where she was rewarded as World Champion), the ‘Streif’ of Kitzbuel (Austria) and the ‘Swiss’ in Courchevel.
