‘Ski is like the air that I breathe in: I need it’!

About

After having skied on several slopes- among which Chamonix, Val d’Isère, Flaine, La Grave- Maurice fell in love with Courchevel and decided to settle there. Why did he choose Courchevel? Because he likes off-piste skiing and the wide range of ski runs provided by the resort.

Originally from the Vosges, Maurice has moved a lot before settling in Courchevel to become a ski instructor. Carried by his love for mountains as well as his passion for ski, he has been teaching for more than 35 years this sport that he holds dear. He especially likes observing his learners progressing thanks to his advice, and takes them progressively to remote areas. Actually, Maurice is specialised in off-piste skiing. What he likes most is skiing in powder snow, in uncrowded areas. Perhaps this preference comes from his second passion- summits. Also working as a mountain guide, Maurice is a real connoisseur of snowy peaks.

You shouldn’t ask this instructor which slope he prefers in Courchevel- each of them has an interest for him, depending on the level of his learners. However, he has a preference for the ‘Jockeys’ slope, which is, according to him, one of the most beautiful in the world.

Yet, Maurice has seen many skiing areas during his trips over the world. As a real globetrotter, he has already skied in Switzerland, Austria, Italy, but also in Lebanon. And despite these absolutely breathtaking places, he is always glad to come back to Courchevel. These travels enabled him to discover new teaching methods, especially when he gave ski lessons at Faraya-Mzaar, Lebanon. It was for him an incredible experience.
