‘Les Trois Vallées skiing resort is the most beautiful playground I have ever known!’

About

René Mayer has now 34 winter seasons of teaching to his credit!

Originally from Saint-Étienne, René Mayer speaks English, Japanese and Russian. He started skiing with his parents when he was three, and made further progress since then during school holidays. He even participated in slaloms in European Cups

Specialised in ski touring and in off-piste skiing, he first worked as a ski instructor in 1984, after he followed a ski-study programme in a specialised secondary school when he was 15. Since then, he still loves passing on his passion to a varied customer base and is proud to have won the loyalty of many customers for years.

René discovered Courchevel in the 1970s while he was doing a training and settled there after he got married. He considers this ski resort as being ‘one of the most beautiful in the world’ and his favourite slope is the black run Jean Blanc. He then joined the ESF, which he considers as a good representation in the teaching of French ski and a key element in the resort.

Apart from teaching, René Mayer works as a carpenter and also likes mountain cycling, hiking and all-terrain motorcycling. He also appreciates skiing and off-piste skiing, the sensation of speed, performing the best connection with snow and the changes in temperatures. But above anything else, he likes admiring the beauty of the landscapes when sliding. Incidentally, he practiced ski touring in Norway and had the opportunity to ski in Australia, in Japan, in the USA, in Switzerland and in Italy while he was teaching in other ski resorts. According to him, Hahnensee (Saint-Moritz), the longest slope in the world in Davos, La Saulire, Les Jockeys and Jean Blanc in Courchevel are the most beautiful slopes in the world.
