‘The mountain offers us the setting; we have to make up the story that goes with it’.

About

Virgil comes from Champagny and grew up close to ski runs.  Since his earliest childhood, he's been familiar with this mountainous landscape; it was therefore quite natural for him to become a ski instructor.

Virgil has always lived next to snowy slopes and summits. When he was two years and a half, his father gave him his first skiing lessons and his invaluable advice, thus transmitting his passion.

This ski-fan cut his teeth at Champagny (La Plagne) which enabled him to improve his group management and to acquire a rich experience in off-piste skiing. Then, he had the opportunity to teach in several French skiing stations, such as Le Grand Bornand, La Clusaz, La Plagne and Les Deux Alpes. He has been teaching for eight years in Courchevel.

What Virgil likes are the intense and immediate sensations provided by sliding sports. He also appreciates the fact that this profession constantly evolves, which makes its practice very interesting. His passion for mountainous landscapes transmitted from his family as well as years of competitive skiing are the reasons that pushed him to become a ski instructor. Outdoors-lover, it was also important for him to practice a sport in the open air.

As a high-level sportsman, Virgil took part in snowboard and boardercross competitions, whether on slalom courses, giant or super-G. He was rewarded several times in these different disciplines, which allowed him to step on podiums.

Today, he is proud to work for the ESF which, to him, provides skiing lessons with professionalism. He adds that everything is put in place so that the customers learn while enjoying themselves. In Courchevel, he especially appreciate the Jean Blanc.

During his skiing lessons, Virgil adopts a teaching method which is both suitable and understandable. His best memory? The day he gave a lesson to a funny group of children. Once at the bottom of the slopes, when the lesson was over, Virgil could admire the same smile on their happy faces.

Once the winter season is over, Virgil gets back to his work as landscaper, an occupation which is more peaceful and which enables him to relax. Lover of travels and music, he also likes mountain biking, paragliding, climbing and walking.
