ESF Challenge des moniteurs: an annual performance to round off the season
Published on 25/03/2026 - Written by Amélie
Created in 1951, the Challenge des Moniteurs takes place every year in April in a festive and friendly atmosphere, bringing together the best ESF competitors. High-level competitions and a variety of activities are on the programme for this five-day event that brings together the general public and winter sports fans. In 2026, Courchevel has been chosen to organise and host this new edition!
The Instructors' Challenge, a unique competition
A key event for the ESF, the Challenge des moniteurs enables the different schools to end the season on a happy note, focusing on what drives them every day: skiing and winter sports. Instructors who wish to do so, particularly those who practice their discipline competitively, are invited to take on their colleagues on the slopes. It's the perfect opportunity to bring together the different resorts and share experiences at the end of the year!
There are several events in the Challenge: the Special Slalom, the main event, the Giant Slalom, reserved for ESF trainees, as well as snowboarding, skicross, cross-country skiing, telemark and Big Air. There is also a special event for children's instructors.

The monitors take action!A high-level festive event
Open to the general public, the Challenge des Moniteurs has the advantage of bringing together all types of skiers and snowboarders. With its combination of speed, impressive figures and technical precision, it's an exceptional spectacle that's still accessible, unlike other sporting competitions that are subject to stricter protocols.
Musical evenings (with Ben & Bélier Bleu, DJ Missdeyd, Jess and West and many other artists) will punctuate the week and allow all the participants to relax after an intense race. It's a great way to get to know other winter sports enthusiasts and enjoy the mountains in a different way!
