Freestyle, off-piste... which style of snowboarding is right for you?

With a peak altitude of 2,738 metres, Courchevel 1850 is an ideal playground for fans of skiing and snowboarding and wide-open spaces.

If you're planning to spend a few days in the French Alps, you'll easily find pistes and off-piste activities suited to your level in and around the resort, but which style of skiing is right for you? Cross-country, freestyle, off-piste... Let's find your favourite sport together!

First of all, you can choose to venture off the marked runs, into a wilder, more unspoilt environment, to discover Courchevel 1850 in a different way.

Off-piste skiing is a great way to reconnect with nature, while enjoying the thrill of skiing down ungroomed slopes. An ideal activity for the adventurous!

Before you set off, however, it's important to know whether you're up to it. Off-piste skiing is not recommended for everyone, as it is more risky. To do so, you need to have already reached at least a Class 3 standard in skiing. It's even better to be accompanied by an esf instructor, for added safety.

Freestyle skiing, on the other hand, is a sport that is perfectly suited to people who like to push their limits and who are in good physical shape. If you've already tried a similar acrobatic sport (freestyle scooter, freestyle BMX, etc.), freestyle skiing could be for you.

This sport allows you to perform a variety of tricks (Ollie, Shifty, Javanese Spin, etc.) on different modules set up in a snowpark. Available from the age of 13 with esf Courchevel 1850, this activity is reserved for good skiers (Flèche d'Argent), who are also thrill-seekers.

Finally, we'd also like to mention cross-country skiing, as this sporting activity is accessible to everyone, unlike the previous two. There are over 100 kilometres of Nordic trails in the 3 Vallées, so you're spoilt for choice.

If you want to ski in complete peace of mind, in some of the most beautiful corners of Courchevel 1850, choose cross-country skiing. This sport will allow you to discover new skiing techniques, explore snow-covered landscapes in peace and quiet and learn more about the local fauna, in a 2-hour, 4-hour or full-day format.
