Are you planning to spend a week's holiday in Courchevel 1850 this winter? If you've already booked your accommodation, now's the time to start thinking about what you're going to pack.

If you want to have the most relaxing stay in the mountains, in the heart of the Tarentaise valley, you'll need to pack a number of items of clothing and accessories. To help you make sure you don't forget anything before you leave, we've put together a list of the essentials you need to have on hand for your holiday in Courchevel. Check out our ski instructor's checklist!

Warm clothing for skiing in maximum comfort

Situated at an altitude of 1850 metres, the Courchevel ski resort regularly experiences sub-zero temperatures on the coldest days. In these icy conditions, it's essential to wear warm, waterproof clothing specially designed for your favourite winter sport. For example, skiers need water-repellent jackets and trousers.

For added comfort, all esf instructors also recommend adopting the three-layer outdoor system. To do this, you'll also need a long-sleeved thermal T-shirt, as well as tights and a fleece, which you can put on or take off depending on the weather. And don't forget the following accessories: knee-high socks, gloves, ski mask, scarf, etc. These will keep out the cold, wind and damp!

Ski equipment: essential equipment and accessories

If you're coming to Courchevel 1850 to ski, you'll obviously need your own pair of skis, but you'll also need poles, boots in your size and various protective gear. In-store hire is still available in the resort.

Today's ski instructors particularly recommend that you wear a ski helmet, as it helps to limit a wide range of risks on the slopes, such as head injuries. If you wish, you can also improve your safety with back protection and padded shorts, especially if you like speed, freestyle or snowboarding. This way, these accessories will cushion every fall you make: a good thing for your physical health!

Little extras not to forget for your ski week

Between the sun, the humidity and the snow, your skin is put to the test in the mountains. That's why esf instructors recommend that you keep a tube of SPF 50 sun cream with you, as well as a moisturising lip balm. Don't forget to apply it every two hours for maximum effectiveness.

If you're planning a day-long activity, you should also pack a light rucksack, then fill it with a water bottle, a few snacks and even a small first-aid kit (plasters, disinfectant, etc.). Enough to quench your thirst, avoid hunger pangs and improve your safety!

Finally, take the time to check that your car is properly equipped for snow and that it complies with the relevant legal requirements: winter tyres, chains, socks. Your safety depends on it, so it's up to you!
